What happens on a mental health first aid at work course?

Much as physical first aid prevents further harm, promotes recovery, preserves life and provides comfort in the moments before professional help arrives, mental health first aid does the same thing when someone is at risk of experiencing a mental health crisis.

Adult mental health first aid training is designed to help individuals develop practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues and gives the confidence to reassure and support those people in distress and signpost to further support for recovery.

The course is delivered on-line over 4 live sessions. Each session is approximately 2 to 2.5 hours long.

Delegates also have access to an online learning hub which takes them through additional activities and provides further opportunities for learning.

We begin by introducing delegates to concepts around mental health before moving on to hold discussions and activities covering topics such as depression, suicide, anxiety disorders and psychosis. The courses are a mix of content and media designed to promote conversations and productive discussions.

The safety and self-care of our delegates is of upmost importance and all sessions are delivered with care and support to our delegates.

Physical course materials are provided for all delegates who receive a comprehensive text book, activities booklet and additional on-line resources as well as a certificate upon completion of the course.
