Humans in Zooming
Last night was our Art Collective event and we had a blast!
Inspired by Grayson Perry and his Art Club, we held a Zoom meeting after inviting people to draw a self portrait of themselves. The idea was that your typical business Zoom meeting or networking event didn’t really allow you to get to know the person on the screen staring back at you. This was a chance to really get to learn something different about everyone and deepen that relationship.
It wasn’t about the art, or how confident people were at drawing and painting - it was about the stories behind it. And by golly, we learned a lot! We discovered people’s loves for their motorbikes, for Glastonbury, their new pet rabbit, of being outside, of forests and horses, pizza in bed, and so much more… not what you normally walk away from a Zoom call knowing, but it was lovely, and jolly and we came away feeling warm and fuzzy.
Life is about making meaningful connections. Sometimes, you just have try a little harder to find those moments - but it is always worth the effort.
