Happy Lunar New Year!
Lunar New Year, Spring Festival, Chinese New Year, however you are familiar with it, it falls today on February 12th. This year we are entering the year of the Ox, and although I am not Chinese, this came as a particular shock to me today when it dawned on me that the last time it was the Year of the Ox, I was in China.
Frankly, I don’t feel old enough for 12 years to have elapsed since I spent a year in China. Mostly it feels like it was yesterday, other times it feels like a lifetime ago, that it wasn’t even me who went there.
But here we are, 2021, the year of the Ox - so according to the Chinese horoscope, what can we expect from this year?
Well, a year to focus on relationships apparently. The lockdown has obviously affected everyone in different ways, of course it has. But it’s been a year since we were able to see our parents, our friends, and our “new normal” is starting to feel like it has always just been us, in our house, doing our thing, with nothing wider outside of that. I think that now we need to make a further push, give more dedicated time to re-ignite those connections and really get our shoulders into this to keep those relationships open and working. Perhaps now even more than ever.
And while we will focus on the relationships we already have, for us it is a time to be creating new business relationships - getting to meet new people, understand how other people are working and see how we can help with that. So it’s an exciting time!
The ox is also hardworking and methodical, a year where work will get rewarded. As a new business for us this will really be a year of getting our heads down and putting all our efforts into getting ourselves fully established. We will also be working hard and methodically on our physical wellbeing - currently marathon training (we are always running), but we are also starting to incorporate other elements into our training like yoga, stretching, strength work and when we are allowed to go back, swimming.
So its going to be a busy year. Probably a hard year, but hopefully successful year. Whatever this year of the Ox brings for you, we hope that it finds you healthy, happy and like the Ox, strong.
